What We Believe

What We Believe

We're a young church, but our convictions aren't new. What follows is a summary of the historic, biblical Christian faith we're seeking to build our life together on — the same gospel the church has held to for two thousand years.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”

2 Timothy 3:16

01

The Bible

We believe the Bible — the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments — is the inspired Word of God, without error in what it teaches, and the final authority for what we believe and how we live.

We read Scripture as God's revelation of himself, centred on Jesus Christ, and we seek to submit our lives to it rather than shape it to fit our preferences.

02

God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons — Father, Son and Holy Spirit — equal in power and glory, who created and sustains all things.

God is holy, just, loving and faithful, and is worthy of all worship, trust and obedience.

03

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who became fully man while remaining fully God, born of the virgin Mary, and lived a sinless life.

He died on the cross as a substitute for sinners, bearing the punishment we deserved, and rose bodily from the dead on the third day, defeating sin and death.

He ascended to the Father's right hand and reigns now as Lord over all, and it is through him alone that anyone comes to God.

04

Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is fully God, sent to convict the world of sin, bring about new birth, and dwell in every believer from the moment of faith.

The Spirit assures us of our adoption as God's children, transforms us to become more like Jesus, and equips the church with gifts for building one another up in love.

05

Humanity

We believe every human being is made in the image of God, and is therefore worthy of dignity, respect and love, regardless of background, ability or circumstance.

We were created for relationship with God and with one another, to know him and reflect his character in the world.

06

Sin

We believe that all people, though made in God's image, have turned away from him in sin, falling short of his holiness in thought, word and deed.

Sin separates us from God and from one another, and none of us can restore that relationship in our own strength.

07

Salvation

We believe salvation is entirely a gift of God's grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone, and not earned by good works or religious effort.

Anyone who turns from sin and trusts in Jesus is forgiven, adopted into God's family, and given new life by his Spirit — free, and for everyone who believes.

08

The Church

We believe the church is not a building or a weekly event, but a people — those who follow Jesus together, called out and gathered by him to worship, to grow in his Word, and to make disciples.

The church exists locally as ordinary believers committed to one another in real relationship: praying together, encouraging one another, bearing one another's burdens and sharing life.

We believe Scripture calls the church to be led by qualified, godly elders who shepherd the congregation with care and humility.

09

Baptism

We believe baptism is a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ — a picture of dying to the old life and rising to new life in him — for those who have personally trusted him as Lord and Saviour.

10

Communion

We believe communion, or the Lord's Supper, is a meal Jesus gave the church to remember his body broken and blood shed for us, and to proclaim his death until he returns.

We share it together as an expression of unity in Christ and gratitude for what he has done.

11

Christian Life

We believe followers of Jesus are called to a life of holiness, love, service, prayer, generosity and obedience to God's Word — not to earn God's favour, but in grateful response to it.

This is a life lived in community, not isolation, as we spur one another on toward faith and good works.

12

The Return of Christ

We believe Jesus Christ will return visibly and bodily to judge the living and the dead, to fully establish his kingdom, and to make all things new.

This hope shapes how we live now — with urgency for the gospel, patience in suffering, and confidence in God's promises.

If this stirs something in you, come and see.

We'd love to talk more about any of this with you — over coffee, or around our table.
